The Skin Consultation
The conversation before any treatment, and how to make the most of it.

- What it is
- A conversation, and often a visual skin assessment, before a treatment is chosen or carried out.
- Why it matters
- It helps the provider understand your skin, your routine and anything that could make a treatment unsuitable.
- What to bring
- A list of the products you use and any medicines, plus notes on allergies or recent treatments.
- Worth knowing
- You can ask questions and take time to decide. A good consultation never rushes you.
What to share
- Your current skincare routine, including active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliating acids.
- Prescription medicines and supplements.
- Allergies and past reactions to products.
- Recent treatments, such as peels, waxing or laser sessions.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding, where relevant to the treatment.
What to ask
- What does the treatment involve, step by step?
- Who will carry it out, and what training or licence do they hold?
- What might I feel during and after, and how should I care for my skin afterwards?
- What would make this treatment unsuitable for me?
Note anything the provider tells you, and do not feel obliged to book on the day.
